Alcaidesa Links Golf Course – Costa del Sol
Situated between Sotogrande and Gibralter adjacent to the spectacular Alcaidesa Development, Alcaidesa Links is highly acclaimed as a true ‘links’ course. The beachside location offers stunning views towards the Rock of Gibraltar and as far as North Africa on a clear day. Designed by Peter Alliss and Clive Clark, the course opened in 1992 and has since had the privilege of hosting the junior Ryder Cup between the US and Europe in 1997. It is an 18-hole course with driving range, putting green, chipping green, carts, trolley, rental of clubs and a pro-shop. For the spectators and none players, there are also swimming, bar and restaurant facilities.

The course was designed by Pepe Gancedo in 1979 to be a challenging championship course. Los Flamingos Golf & Country Club - Estepona Golf
Los Flamingos was designed by Antonio García Garrido and is located west of San Pedro de Alcántara in the hills close to the N340. Although the vegetation is still young, great care has been taken to offer the visitor a surrounding with a diversity of plantation like cypresses, orange, olive and pine trees, carob, chestnut and pomegranate trees.

Calahonda Golf Courses - Costa del Sol Golf
"Many Happy Returns" is an appropriate message for the terrific new Cabopino Golf on the Costa del Sol that celebrates its second birthday in April. In its two years of operation, over 80,000 rounds have been played - many of them by recidivist golfers forced to return after becoming hooked at first site. Calahonda also has the quaint and hilly Miraflores Golf and a pleasant par 3 course Club La Siesta, which is the house favourite among locals in the urbanization.

Club La Siesta - Calahonda Golf
It's located north of Calahonda in a peaceful environment where all visitors are welcome. Although it is a par 3 course it seems to play longer. Great views and mature vegetation make La Siesta a pleasant course. This short 9-hole par 3 courses is designed by Enrique Canales and was opened in 1990.

Miraflores Golf - Calahonda Golf
Miraflores Golf is part of the Miraflores Urbanization and was designed by Falco Nardi in 1990. It is located in the hills 2 kilometres from the N340 between Marbella and Fuengirola near Mijas Costa.
Miraflores is a course that follows the natural slope of the valley and offers excellent facilities other than golf, such as tennis, horse riding, bowls and a snooker room.
Although Miraflores looks appears to be a hilly course the fairways follow the natural slopes of the valleys. Miraflores offers excellent other facilities like tennis, horse riding, bowls and a snooker room.

The chances are that most visitors to the Costa del Golf will have played Lauro Golf and has recently been extended to 27 holes at the beginning of 2003. Close by there is also the popular Alhaurin Golf & Country Club, which is an ambitious 45-hole course, set amongst mountains and lakes.
Alhaurin Golf & Country Club - Coin Golf
Alhaurin Golf, designed by Seve Ballesteros located near Mijas at the Costa del Sol in the province of Málaga. It has established itself as an ambitious resort offering 45 holes. Alhaurin used to have a reputation as being difficult with the hilly terrain, small fairways and steep valleys, were considered a little too punishing. In 1996 the fairways were widened and both greens and bunkers redesigned in 1996 changed this course, with six tee boxes on each hole to create more of a challenge.
The course also has spectacular mountain and valley views including colourful vegetation and foliage.
The resort hotel offers swimming, tennis and horse riding facilities. The new clubhouse opened in 2001. Alhaurin is situated between Mijas and Alhaurin el Grande.

Lauro Golf - Coin Golf
Laura Golf was designed by Folco Nardi in 1991 and has the added distinction of having named all the holes after famous bullfighters. It is situated in the Sierra de Mijas amidst the gentle valleys in between Málaga and Torremolinos. Interest has been added to the course in form of Orange, Lemon and Olive trees which cause some awkward ball positions if not a seasoned player. There is an established clubhouse in an impressive 200 years old Cortijo in which to enjoy a pre or post round drink.

Málaga Golf Courses - Costa del Sol Golf
Real Club de Campo de Málaga, built in 1925, is the oldest club in Andalucian. It was originally founded by the Spanish Royal Family and was the first course on the Costa del Sol to host the European Tour’s Turespaña Masters in 1999. The course still holds a certain distinction due to air of history and tradition. The other course in the Málaga region is the Guadalhorce Club de Golf, which is set in typically parkland style surroundings with spectacular water hazards and stunning views.
Real Club de Campo de Málaga - Málaga Golf
Designed by Tom Simpson who is renown for designing the high profile courses of Turnberry and Muirfield in Scotland. This course dates back to 1925 and was founded by the Spanish Royal Family and still has much of the kudos, history and traditional associated with this.
This Championship course is partly a links and parkland course. It is a challenging course for seasoned players but is not too brutal for the beginner. The course is still owned by the state and part of the Parador.

Guadalhorce Club de Golf - Málaga Golf
Founded in 1990, Guadalhorce is located about 8 kilometres land inwards west of Málaga. Guadalhorce, designed by Kosti Kuronen, has a magnificent Andalucian style clubhouse and offers several other facilities like tennis courts, a swimming pool and a sauna. Marbella’s reputation for golfing precedes itself and is host to spectacular courses like Rio Real Golf Hotel and the Santa Maria Golf & Country Club. Another well-respected course is the Marbella Golf & Country Club, with its exquisite panoramic sea views.

This well-established golf course is situated just East of Marbella and has easy access from the N340. Designed by the notable Javier Arana it opened in 1965 and has proved a very popular course. The fairways are separated by mature foliage, providing the course with character and interest. The Rio Real crosses the course several times, creating natural water hazards in play.
The new clubhouse has a large terrace with great views over the course. Since 2000 Rio Real also offers Hotel facilities straight at the course.

Santa Maria Golf & Country Club - Marbella Golf
This is a popular course, located east of Marbella near Hotel Don Carlos. The course has 18-holes and is not too difficult to play with its wide fairways particularly on the back nine.
Opened in 1991 Santa María Golf previously was a 9-hole course designed by Antonio García Garrido. After finishing the second nine, designed by it's own technical staff, 5 years later in 1996 the course is know sited in two valleys in the hills in a surrounding with beautiful views. The Santa María Resort offers other facilities such as tennis courts, swimming and the Santa María Bowls Club, an official bowls club.

Marbella Golf & Country Club - Marbella Golf
The Golf Club Marbella is located about 5 kilometers east of Marbella. The course has steep ravines and can be terrifying for the beginning. After a couple of holes, however, the course, designed by Robert Trent Jones and opened in 1990.
The relatively small green is protected by severe bushes at the hilly back and a lake in front of it. From both the terrace of the luxurious clubhouse and the course you will enjoy some superb panoramic views over the sea and Marbella while the large undulated greens are a pleasure on their own right.

Mijas Golf Club - Mijas Golf
Mijas Golf (Los Lagos and Los Olivos) is located 4 kilometres of the N340 towards Alhaurin el Grande and 20 minutes to Fuengirola. Mijas Golf offers two 18 holes courses: Los Lagos and Los Olivos are both 18-hole course and are amongst the most popular and visited courses on the Costa del Sol.
During the last decade, Mijas Golf has become one of the most popular golf complexes in Europe, known by the outstanding condition of their courses and the friendly atmosphere and excellent service provided to the clients.
Los Lagos was the first course to be constructed under the direction of Mateo Pérez Robles, a forerunner in Costa del Sol tourism. The course offers wide fairways, with lakes and also the many trees strategically placed to protect the large greens.
Los Olivos was constructed originally between 1983-1984, although it has recently been totally refurbished. This course lies in a smaller peace of land, and has different characteristics to his brother. The greens are smaller with undulations and well protected by bunkers. Also, it has a large number of olive trees strategically situated around the fairways, which demand a strong and straight drive from the player.
The Club House is an old Andalucian Cortijo where one can enjoy a drink on the terraces and mix with residents and visitors alike.

Designed by Enrique Canales, this course was opened in 1992, La Dama de Noche is the first course with a strategically placed lighting system in Europe, allowing 24 hour a day. It is located next to the N340 between Puerto Banus and Marbella.

Situated West of San Pedro in the small town of Cancelada is the very challenging Monte Mayor Golf Club and not to far away is the slightly less taxing courses of Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club (designed by Seve Ballesteros) and the Guadalmina Club de Golf.

Founded in 1959, the Guadalmina has two 18-hole golf courses (Norte and Sur) and a 9-hole practice course. The Guadalmina is situated just 1km from the centre of San Pedro.
Guadalmina Norte, was designed by Folco Nardi and has been open since 1975. It is the easier of the two courses, although there are water hazards and trees to make the course a more interesting play.
Guadalmina Sur was also opened in 1959, was designed by Javier Arana and is the second oldest course on the Costa del Sol. Close by on the beach is the Guadalmina hotel.

The Los Arqueros Golf course was designed by Seve Ballesteros, who incorporated many well placed hazards such as water, steep dips and streams.

Sotogrande Golf Courses – Costa del Sol
The luxury resort of Sotogrande is situated on the western side of the Costa del Sol and is only 20 minutes from Gibraltar and 1.5 hours from Málaga. Some of the most prestigious golf courses are situated in this area such as Club de Golf Valderrama and the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, both of which have played host to the major tournaments within the last 5 years.

Valderrama is an extremely difficult and strategic course and is regarded the number one course in Europe and among the top courses worldwide. This 9-hole par 3 course was designed by Robert Trent Jones and Seve Ballesteros, top players have described it as thrilling and breathtaking, as there are so many water hazards and trees to add interest.
Valderrama has played host to several major events, such as the 1997, Ryder Cup which saw Europe as the winner and also during 1990’s the European PGA Tour and Stroke Play Championships in 1999, 2000 and 2002.

Real Club de Golf Sotogrande- Sotogrande Golf
Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, designed by Robert Trent Jones in 1964, is the oldest course on the Costa del Sol and is considered one of the top courses in Europe. The championship distance is 6224 metres, par 72 and SSS 74 on its longest distance and the course has wide fairways and little semi-rough on the fairways, fast greens and lakes. However, it is the strong winds that add to the challenge.
The clubs designer has described the course as a battleground and went on to explain that the players, ‘attack’ the course but it is the designers job to ‘defend’ it. His defence includes some ingenious water hazards, rough and strategically placed bunkers.
